BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE RING

 

HEARING GOD

 

I'm writing this with so much concern. God wants to speak to His children but they can barely hear him. Some hear God speak but they do not understand. I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write you this piece.

God wants to speak with you more than you can imagine. I know you are willing to make this work that's why you are reading this article.

God speaks to those who wants to hear Him. You wouldn't speak to an unwilling Listener.

 

1. Reading the Word of God

 

Do you agree with me that even with your eyes closed, you can recognize your mother's voice? This is so because you are used to her presence. You have known her since cradle. You know the way she sounds, the way the words form in her tongue and even her pattern of speaking.

Paul speaking in the book of Corinthians talked about the Bible being a blue print for we, Christians. If you read the Bible often, then you would have a sense of God's pattern of speaking. He has patterns, precepts and principles. We saw the way He chose men who walked with him. How he called Moses in the burning bush, how he chased Jonah and how he made Abraham his friend. Common!! These are ways already. The Bible says His spirit bears witness with us because we are his children. It's a crime not to hear God if you are His child. We can't be spiritually dumb! 

 

2. Consecration

 

God loves consecration. To him, it's like "Quality time and words of affirmation" it is a place where you talk to God. It happens to me a lot where I'm looking for my earrings and id just ask God, in few seconds, I'd just find myself checking the window where they actually are.

God is Holy. He purified Isaiah's lips. He gave him a coal of fire. Everyday, consecrate yourself. Let Jesus live in you Gal 2:20. You will hear God.

 

 

3. Hunger 

 

I began to hunger for God at age 15. Nothing made sense to me anymore, I just needed God. I left that fire for the world and replaced it with fire for Jesus. God showed up. I'd just start to cry when praying. My friends know me to be crying bee. I just wanted Jesus. I was just never satisfied and I still hunger. I desired spiritual language and soon, I bursted forth in the spirit. God heard me, He gave me signs. People witnessed God in me. That was just all I wanted. Do you have a heart for God? Or you just want to use Him? God searches the heart, remember. There's something hunger does, it is a force that finds you God. Imagine when you are physically hungry, you can't sleep because the hunger will wake you up.

 

 

4. Experiences

 

Sometimes, God takes you on a Journey because He wants to speak to You . Remember Moses and the burning bush? God wanted to speak to Moses explicitly so God made a set a bush ablaze without it burning. Moses approached the bush with curiosity and this was how God got his attention.

Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”

4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called(H) to him from within the bush,(I) “Moses! Moses!

And Moses said, “Here I am.”

God also spoke to Abraham through experiences. He told Abraham to count the stars, which was impossible. He promised Abraham that so we would his children be. Till today, that promise still stands. He can speak through a donkey as He did with Ballack! He can use the weather, anything! Can you relate with any experience through which God has spoken to you?

 

5. Inspiration

 

There are times where some things just pop up in your heart like ideas. That's God. His little whispers. Times when you are praying for direction and you suddenly know what to do.

Don't force it. Don't imagine a specific way you'd expect God to talk to you. The pharisees never expected that the messiah they had been waiting for, would come that way, living in their midst. God knows you best, and understands your language of communication.

In this season, God wants partnership, fellowship and intimacy. If He is your Lord and Creator, that means He has the blue prints for your life. If you would fulfill purpose, You'd need Him. You need to hear Him at every stage of life; Course of study, Marriage, and any other thing you can think of.

Don't rush it, build a relationship with Him first, show Him you are interested. Talk to Him like you would talk to your favourite person. Tell Him the clothes you wish to wear and the food you wish to eat.

God wants to talk to You every time. In all, remember that it is a conversation. Talk to God too, He listens. Remember we were created in God's image and likeness. You cannot keep hurting God and expect Him to stick closer. He wants to speak to Like minds. Align more, you'd hear God more.
